Fall Trauma Trainings!
Have you ever been given a job to do without the resources necessary to do it well? This is frustrating at the very least. It can even be dangerous!
This certainly holds true in the case of providing foster and adoptive care. Without a doubt, our region is in desperate need of more safe and nurturing foster and adoptive families. Toward that end, recruitment efforts are increasing with some encouraging success. At the core of our own organization’s mission is an effort to raise up more foster and adoptive families from within the Christian community. As important as this goal is, however, it is not enough.
Engaging people, including Christians, to be foster & adoptive families must be coupled with equipping them to succeed. Apart from high-level supports, the attrition rate for foster families is much too high.
With that in mind, we have established an initiative to provide high-level, evidence-based trauma-informed care training for anyone who provides care for youth from hard places such as abuse and neglect. We provide half-day training for church staff and volunteers who work with children. We also provide both half-day and 7-week training for caregivers.
We have some great opportunities already scheduled for the fall. Follow the links below for more info and for registration. Make sure to reach out if you have any questions!
