Project 5:16 – a prayer initiative
The foster care need is only intensifying. While the Christian community must roll up its’ collective sleeves to serve in specific, material ways, more than ever, such efforts must be ungirded by the equally hard work of fervent prayer. Prayer is by no means all we must do; but, pray we must.
NOT everyone can foster; NOT everyone can adopt; NOT everyone can mentor. BUT, everyone CAN pray. YOU can pray!
Thus, we are excited to introduce Project 5:16, a Fostering Hope prayer initiative.
One of the beautiful things about prayer is that we can pray anytime and anywhere…from our prayer closet to our commute!
James 5:16 extends to us the incredible promise that “the prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” We want to claim this promise as we intercede for the foster care community.
We are recruiting 6 teams of 16 people who are willing and able to pray for the foster care community for at least 5 minutes a day, Monday-Friday. This calculates to 8 hours of collective prayer per day!
If you want to join this initiative, simply send an email to email@example.com and let us know the New England state for which you want to pray.
Fostering Hope will send out a daily email (M-F) that contains one prayer request for that day. The request will be a simple, specific petition for the foster care community that will help to fuel your prayer. At times, it will be specific to the state in which you live (or choose to pray for); other times, it will be more general.
We begin this initiative with great confidence, not in ourselves, but in the One who promises that “the prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16).
We can’t wait to see what God does as we intercede together.
